Bike Check: LeGrit and their Hobo Geo
Ramona and Alexia, aka “Le Grit” have been, in their own words, “random bikepacking adventures” across Europe this summer on a pair of Hobootleg Geos.
A little over a thousand kilometers into their first Geo adventures they tell us a bit about how they are finding the ride…

How many kms/miles have you clocked on your Cinelli so far?
In these first months we have traveled 1000 km and are ready to do many more.
What kind of riding have you been using it for? What kind of rides do you most love taking it on?
With the Hobootleg geo we ride to explore rugged landscapes far from cities, totally immersing ourselves in nature whilst also trying to be self-sufficient.
We like to test ourselves against rough, arduous and dusty terrain where there is never a lack of portage! But the effort is always rewarded with landscapes that leave you breathless…
How does your setup reflect that? Could you take us through the details of your build and its relationship to your riding style and needs?
Our Hobootleg geos have the stock factory build with the addition of bags on the handlebar, forks and saddle. We carry the bare minimum necessary to stay warm at night and be prepared for unforeseen changes in weather.
We often also travel with a tent and sleeping bag that are distributed between the handlebar bag and fork.
The wide handlebars stocked on the Geo - which were new to us in bikepacking - allow for greater stability when the bikes are fully loaded on the descent.
Is this the first time you’ve ridden a steel bike for Adventure riding?
Actually we have always ridden steel bikes!

How does it compare to the adventure bikes you’d been riding previously? What are the pros and cons?
Compared to the previous, more “traditional”, adventure bikes we’d been riding previously, the Geo offers the advantage of being able to tackle much more extreme terrain…
How would you describe the handling and ride experience?
We are able to achieve a very comfortable position on the bike and that really is what makes us feel most confident both climbing and descending.
What do you like most about this bike and why would you recommend it to a friend?
The things we like most about the Geo are its design, which is somewhere between a gravel bike and a MTB but with more comfort, to be able to tackle long journeys in somewhat wild places.
